Barbara A. Burns, 73, a resident of Country Club Court Apartments, Pulaski St., passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.
Barbara was born in Carthage, on February 8, 1947, a daughter of Francis Lloyd and Doris Johnson Burns. She grew up in Carthage through 8th grade and later graduated from Boonville Central School, with The Class of 1965. Thereafter she was employed at General Electric, Syracuse, as a nurse’s aide, and also a ward clerk at a local hospital, before her last employment as cashier at Rite Aid Stores.
She attended Calvary Gospel Church, New York Mills. Barbara found great enjoyment in music, reading and doing cross word puzzles.
She is survived by a daughter, Deidre McCarty and husband, Tim, Delray Beach, FL; grandchildren, Patrick McQueen, Shannon McCarty, Erin McCarty, Ashley Burns, Stephanie Burns and Chris Burns, two great grandchildren, Leo and Phoebe. Barbara was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Burns, 2019 and by her parents, Francis Lloyd Burns and Doris Burns Dawes. Also surviving are sisters, Virginia Miller, Pompano Beach, FL, Carol (Ronald) White, Port Leyden, Cynthia (Harry Earl) Thompson, Riverside CA, Christina (David) Lott, York, SC, and a brother, William (Sharon) Burns, Hemet, CA and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Paul Burns in 1959 and Patrick Burns in 2010.
