Michael James Lynch
Michael James Lynch, 89, Dallas, TX, formerly of Raytown, MO, died at his home on Friday, October 22, 2004. Mike was a faithful Catholic who went to Mass daily until his declining health prevented him from attending. A longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, he was active in numerous ministries and organizations. As a Lay Minister of the Eucharist, he distributed Communion at Mass and in hospitals and nursing homes. He was past President of the parish St. Vincent DePaul Society, Board Member of the Credit Union, and was a member of the Men's Club, the Friendship Club, and the Knights of Columbus. Mike also volunteered countless hours at the Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home. Mike was a devoted family man, providing an excellent example to his sons, grandchildren and nieces and nephews, on how to live for others. He was always willing to listen to their problems and never failed to offer words of encouragement and comfort. Mike was a dedicated employee, who retired after 20 years as a Route Salesman for Foremost Dairies. Staying active, he drove a school bus for Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and the Raytown Consolidated School District. His final job was with the Kansas City Royals Baseball Club, retiring in May 2002. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and he loved his country. He honorably served in the United States Army for six years during WWII. He served overseas in New Guinea and the Philippines. He is survived by his three sons, Michael Joseph Lynch, Kansas City, Thomas Patrick Lynch and Timothy James Lynch, Dallas, TX; six grandchildren, Rosemary Katherine Waters, Shannon Marie Lynch, Sean Michael Lynch, Kelly Maureen Cummings, Ryan Patrick Lynch, and Kathryn Lois Trednick; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Mary Margaret Lynch, Houston, TX; daughter-in-law Donna Lynch, Dallas, TX; and four sisters-in-law, Ms. Helen Elmer, Mrs. Patricia Lynch, Mrs. Patricia Miller, and Mrs. Jane Monley. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Sheil Colonial Funeral Chapel, 47th and Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO, with Rosary recital at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 28 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A. Reed Rd., Raytown, MO, 64138. The family would like to express their appreciation to Mr. Jay Harris of Harris Hospice, and Rev. Fr. Victor F.A. Celio, OP, for their care and support they provided Mike and the family. (Arr.
