She was preceded in death by her father, William "Bill" Duncan; her paternal grandparents, Virgil Lee "Big Daddy" Duncan and Mary Cleveland "Biggy" Duncan; and her maternal grandparents, Frederick Young "Pochie" Nichols and Mary Lou "MaMaw" Nichols.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Terry Lynn; her son, Jonathan Kirk of Henderson, and her daughter, Alea Haynes Smith and son-in-law, Rob, of Henderson. Affectionately known as "Grammy" she leaves behind her grandson, Jackson, and her granddaughter, Haynie Jane.
Jane was born into a large, loving Christian family with survivors including her mother, Martha N. Moore; sister, Nancy Gibson (husband Larry); brother, James "Jim" Duncan ( wife Myrona); brother Kenneth "Kenny" Duncan (wife Brandy); brother John Mark Duncan (wife Dana); and brother, Douglas Eugene "Gene" Duncan (wife Karen). Her love of family and her death will be felt across the country by many of her cousins and the dozens of her nieces and nephews who knew her as "Aunt Jane or Graunt."
Mom placed her faith in God, growing up in Geneva Baptist Church and then serving more than 50 years as a member at Zion Baptist Church. She chose Mark 10:27 as her most cherished Scripture, "Jesus looked at them and said, 'With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God'." Her family was the center of her day-to-day activities and she was the bright light of our family. In most recent years, we gathered each Wednesday for family supper where Grammy would begin the blessing of our meal and encourage her grandchildren to continue the prayer.
Relatives and friends are invited to Jane's visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 . The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Reverend Jeff Coursey officiating. In honor of her 40+ years of devoted service to the Kentucky State Police, she will be honored by their accompaniment to her interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
