He is survived by his wife Dolores, sons: David Lawson of Van Buren, and Dale (wife Lisa) Lawson of Bentonville, brothers: Rudy Lawson and Russell Lawson of Fort Smith. Rex is also survived by step-son Ross Winton (wife Nikki) and step-daughter Diane Wynn all of Fort Smith. Rex was the loving grandfather of 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson, also 3 step-granddaughters and 1 step grandson and 1 month old great-grandson.
Rex was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Navy 4 years, then served 2 years in RMCB28, and 36 years in the Air Force at 188th Fighter Wing Air National Guard. He retired in 2008 as Senior Mst. Sgt. Rex volunteered as a Sebastian County Reserve Deputy for 20 years.
Burial will be at Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel 4817 Kelley Hwy in Fort Smith. Due to the pandemic a private family Memorial will be held at a later date.
