Margaret Elizabeth Schmidt, 95, of Coloma went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 7th.

Margaret was an active member of the Anderson Indiana-based Church of God and gave her life to the lord when she was 17 years old. She taught Sunday school and Bible school for numerous years, sang in the church choir, and was an involved member in the church's missionary society. Margaret continually sponsored a number of needy youngsters through Children of Promise, a program which assists the poorest of the poor overseas. Additionally, she often gave to Mercy Ships and World Vision. Further, she visited the elderly and the ill on a regular basis for many years.

Margaret is survived by four beloved children: Earl (Janet) Sprague, Jr., David (Karol) Sprague, George C. Schmidt, Jacqueline Schmidt, and cherished daughter-in-law Paula Schmidt. She also leaves behind brother James (Joyce) Gardner, five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces; nephews, and cousins, Margaret was preceded in death by parents, William and Edith Gardner, first husband Earl Sprague, Sr., second husband George G. Schmidt, son John Schmidt, sisters Ethel Moss and Joyce Sornsen, brothers George Gardner and William Gardner II, granddaughter Nicole Schmidt, and daughter-in-law Dianne Sprague.

A celebration of life will take place at 2:00 pm, Friday, December 11th at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, MI, with Pastor Steve Starks officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the chapel. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens, 5027 M-63 North, Coloma, MI.
