Mr. Jessie Richardson Matthews, age 88 died Friday, February 8, 2008 at Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro. Mr. Matthews was born in Perry County, TN to the late Arnold R. and Mattie Qualls Matthews. He as a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and retired self- employed mechanic. Preceded in death by wife, Annie Christine Matthews, son, Ricky Charles Matthews and Charlie Wayne Matthews. Survived by: son, Richard Matthews of Murfreesboro, TN & Larry Wayne (Maxine) Matthews of Ashland City, TN; daughters, Betty (Samuel) Heithcock of Brentwood, TN, Patricia Geraldine Rowden of Morrison, TN, Brenda (James) Wade of White House, TN, Darlene (Donald) Campbell of Thompson Station, TN; sisters, Vera Slaughter of Nashville, TN & Frances Young o Franklin, TN; 15 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, February 11, 2008 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Jim Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, TN. Pallbearers were Tandy Tomlin, Chris Matthews, Lee Campbell, James Matthews, James Wade & Bluker Rowden.
