Born August 5, 1928 in rural Sterling, the daughter of Clifford and Myrtle (Shoffner) Young. Married to Robert E. “Pete” Jones August 16, 1946 in Mt. Morris; he died July 25, 2002.
She was employed as a cook at White Pines Ranch, retiring in 1990 after 18 years of service. Darlene was a friend to everyone and enjoyed crocheting, making blankets for all the members of her family. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Oregon and an active volunteer at Lifeline Food Pantry in Oregon.
Survived by sons, Ronald (Charlott) Young and Clifford (Rhonda) Jones; grandchildren, Jim (Sandra) Young, Brian (Susie) Young and Kelly (Tim) Henert; 10 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great- grandchildren; step-brother, Floyd (Edna) Netzz; sister-in-law, Miriam Young and many nieces and nephews.
Also predeceased by her parents; an infant son; and brother, Robert Young.
Private family funeral services will be held at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon with Pastor Michael Hoffman and Pastor David Rogula co-officiating. Burial in Grand Detour Cemetery. A public celebration of Darlens’s life is planned for a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Darlene’s name may be made to Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon.
