Fernandina Beach - Dorothy Freeman, 79, of Fernandina Beach Florida passed away on December 15, 2020 at Fernandina Beach Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born on April 23, 1941 in Bonifay Florida, she was the daughter of Alvester Ted Gill and Flossie Grace Smith Gill. Dorothy grew up in Marion County Florida, and lived in Oklawaha and Ocala, Florida until moving to Fernandina Beach in 2006.
"Dot" as she was called by her family and friends loved to fish, shop, and cook for her family. She was well known for her southern fried chicken, tomato gravy, and banana pudding. Her home was always an open door to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Pam in 1970. Dot is survived by her son, Roy Spicer (Teri) of Fernandina Beach Florida; daughter, Karen Vernon of Ocala, Florida; Seven Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. Dot also leaves behind her sisters Charlotte Mobley of Summerfield Florida, Maryland Padgett Bridges of Brewton Alabama, three nieces and two nephews.
A celebration of life with family will be in Gainesville Florida.
