York - After 95 years of living life, Curtis "Bud" Howard, Jr. passed away peacefully on January 15, 2021. He is preceded in death by his wife, Arlene (Myers) Howard; infant son, Curtis Howard III; his father, Curtis Edward Howard, Sr.; mother, Alice (Grove) Howard; and all brothers and sister.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Howard) Rosier; son, Darvin Howard and wife Lonna; 7 grandchildren; grandson, Sean Rosier and fiancé Laura Mosca; granddaughter Angela Rosier and partner Robert Creek; granddaughter Jamie Rosier and partner John Fabian; grandson, Brahn Howard and wife, Beckie; granddaughter Erica Woodson and husband Scott; grandson Micah Howard and partner, Tiffany Sell; and granddaughter Kelci Fauser and husband, Michael; as well as 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Curtis was known by most as "Bud", but his grandchildren affectionately knew him as Pap, Pap Pap, Poppy and Paparino.

Bud learned what work was beginning at 8 years old, when he was sent to earn his keep on a neighboring Glenn Rock farm. He did so until he made his way to Florida as an older teen to join the United States Navy, serving on the hospital ship USS Tranquility in the South Pacific as a carpenter's mate. Since his dream was to be in electronics, following the Navy, Bud attended the RCA school of radio electronics in New York. Following school, he returned to York working first in appliance store D. R. West, then the Bendix Corporation as supervisor of a team responsible for maintaining test and manufacturing equipment. It was between these two positions that Bud met Arlene, his wife of 70 years, and started a family. Shortly before Bendix left town, he joined a business alliance named York Information Systems (YIS) Inc. with three other Bendix engineers. As part owner, Bud directed the business affairs of the calibration lab. He would invest nearly 30 years in this capacity before retiring, only to return as a lab consultant and manufacturing support.

Bud always loved gardening. He and Arlene would invest countless hours together building flower beds, landscaping their home, and keeping it all meticulously manicured. Retirement not only afforded him additional time to dedicate for gardening, but vacationing with friends, as well as sharing acts of love toward his family. Those acts also found their way to his neighbors, because he was a tremendous handyman, who did not mind serving the needs of his neighbors. Bud loved God and his church family. Even in his 90's, he wanted to understand more as a student enrolled in college Bible classes at the church. Still more important to him was that his family and friends would come to experience Jesus' forgiving grace and love that makes any person right with God, just as it did him.

Due to COVID19, a virtual viewing will be Friday January 22, 2021 from 11:30am - 12:00pm.
