Edwin Gregory Fair Sr., 50, husband of Tonia Vaughn Fair, entered into eternal rest Sunday, Dec 23, 2007, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born March 4, 1957, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Bennie Fair and Thelma Murphy Fair.

Fair also affectionately known as ‘Fat Albert” or "Uncle Al-Boo” attended the public schools of Columbia. He graduated from Eau Claire High School. He was employed and retired from the South Carolina Department of Mental Health after 29 years of service.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Tonia A. Vaughn in 1992. The two together started their dream and to this union a son and daughter were born. He attended Shepherd United Methodist Church and served faithfully and was dedicated to the ministry until his death.

He will always be remembered for his love and dedication to his family and all that knew him. He was a very humble man who enjoyed serving others. We thank God for allowing us those precious moments with him.

He will be missed but forever remembered by his wife Tonia V. Fair; two children, Edwin Gregory Fair Jr. and Megan Angelica Fair; one brother, Joseph Fair of New York; three sisters, Margie Bagby and Benzina Masyck of New York, and Gladys Stukes of North Carolina; a host of nieces and nephews, including three special nephews, Comehus A. Holmes and Albert Kennedy of Columbia and Daniel M Kemp of Sumter, and a special niece, Latezzar S. Fair of Lithonia, Ga. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Mable Vaughn; two sisters-in-law, Sharon V Kemp and Michele Vaughn of Sumter; one brother-inlaw, James Vaughn Jr.; of Tampa,.; Fla one aunt, Willie Mae Grooms of Columbia; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by both parents; one sister, Bennie Mae Fair Kennedy; and two brothers, Anthony Cornelius Fair and Amos Fair.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday, Dec 29, 2007, from the Shepherd United Methodik Church, US 15 North, Sumter, with the Rev. Barbara L. Reid, pastor, the Rev. Albert A. Neff, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, Columbia, eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Charlie Thomas.

The family will receive friends at his home, 45 W Moore St., Sumter.
The remains will be placed in the church at 1 pm Saturday.

The funeral cortege will leave from his home at 1:30 pm Saturday. Floral bearers will be Sister’s Circle. Pall bearers will be the family and friends.

Burial will be in the White’s Cemetery, Sumter.
