Elizabeth's parentage is unknown.

She married Laurence Witman. They had four known sons, two of them in Baden, Germany: Francis Joseph in 1814, Laurence about 1815.

Immediately post-Napoleanic War in Baden in 1816, there was increasingly heavy taxation, typhus, a failed harvest and the expansion of military service. Many farmers decided to emigrate.

From Aug 8 to Aug. 16, 1817, Elizabeth sailed with her husband and two children on the ship "Xenophon" from Amsterdam, the Netherlands to the Port of Philadelphia. This particular voyage was nightmarish because of the captain's cost cutting. Of 484 passengers who embarked, 49 died en route.

Son Laurence disappeared from historical records after the voyage.

The couple had two more sons after migrating: John in 1819 and William in 1823.

For many years, Elizabeth lived with her husband in Tinicum Twp., Bucks Co. At some point she travelled to Berks Co. to live with her oldest son after he moved there about 1852.

Her sons were enumerated three times in a list of poor children whose educational fees had to be paid by Bucks Co.

Elizabeth had 17 grandchildren and 336 known additional descendants as of late 2007.
