Barbara A. Hartley of Centre Hall, died on January 16, 2021 at Mt Nittany Medical Center.

She was born on June 18, 1940 in Altoona to Rachel Strouse, and was raised by Miles P. and Kathryn I. Hettinger Decker from the age of 5.

On February 25, 1961, she married Howard E. Hartle who preceded her in death on March 10, 2016.

Barb attended Penns Valley High School. She was a homemaker and was known as the “cake lady” for her ability to bake and decorate cakes. She was also known for being “the band mom” during her daughter Mishell’s time at PVHS.

Her membership included the Nittany Antique Machinery Association, Women of the Moose in Lewistown, Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks and St. Johns Union Church, Farmers Mills.

She enjoyed playing bingo, doing word search and taking bus trips.

While Barb was a longtime resident of Centre Hall, she thoroughly enjoyed her last three plus years with the amazing staff and residents at The Wynwood House at Greenhills.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter Mishell & Frank Valiulis as well as her granddaughter Katie Valiulis of League City TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barb’s name may be made to the Centre County Office of Aging, 420 Holmes St. Rm. 245, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
