Rita passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021 after struggling with pneumonia. Rita was preceded in death by her husband Cornelius “CJ” Foster. She is survived by her four step-children; Gregory (Janice), Jeffrey (Sharon), Debra (Kerry) Kneser, and Dale; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She is further survived, and greatly loved by 45 Roth nieces and nephews.

Rita will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, friends, and her dedication and involvement in St. Agnes Parish as a Eucharistic minister, Christian Mother officer, and a frequent contributor to bake sales and the St. Agnes Holly Fair.

She and CJ also volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels for Waukesha County. Rita served as the Butler Seniors Secretary for 10 years where she organized activities and played many Sheepshead card games. The card game she and Grandma played was “500” but when she married into the Foster family, it became clear that she needed to learn Sheepshead!

She was one of the first career women in the family, working in the billing department of the Gas company, from which she retired after 30 years of dedicated service. She always “dressed to the 9’s” even when she lived at her St. Anne’s Assisted Living apartment.

She was an avid bowler, loved to play cards, played pitcher for a women’s softball team, made a mean chicken and dumpling soup, was famous for her 4th of July family picnics and the many “happy hours” spent with CJ. Rita also enjoyed dancing and traveling with her good friend Tony Doro.

We rejoice now that she is finally home with Jesus and free from the health challenges she faced over the past few years. The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus, Lutheran Home, and Froedtert Hospital staff for their understanding, patience, time, and care that they provide for Rita.

Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 25, 2021 at St. Margaret Mary Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Agnes Parish Butler would be appreciated.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions we know many family members will not be able to attend the funeral. However, Saturday June 12, 2021 we will celebrate a Mass of Remembrance at St. Agnes Church (Butler) and will continue with a family picnic at Butler Park.
