Mr. Larry G. Murphy, age 87, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at his residence.

A native of Springfield, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Lawrence G. Murphy and the late Katherine Frey Benton. He was a graduate of Coopertown High School in Robertson County, Tennessee. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a computer engineer for The Burroughs Corp. and The Unisys Corp from 1957 until January 1991 when he formed his own company, Data Equipment Services. He retired in 2001. He was a member of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church in Columbia for fifty-six years.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Pryor Murphy of sixty-eight years; a son, Marty (Robin) Murphy of Franklin, TN; a daughter, Kathy Murphy (Dean Mulholland) of Mt. Pleasant, TN; three grandsons: Michael Parker of Miami, FL, Ryan (Hannah) Murphy of Mt. Juliet, TN, Ben Pruitt of Summertown, TN; five half-brothers: Mike Murphy of Michigan, Donnie Murphy of Michigan, Brian Murphy of Michigan, Rick (Donna) Benton of Greenville, TN, Jeff (Karen) Benton of Springfield, TN; two great grandsons: Dylan and Colby Murphy of Mt. Juliet, TN; and several very special nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Steve Murphy; sister, Betty Kate and her husband, Don Henry; and sister, Treshia and her husband James Binkley.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Michael Parker, Ryan Murphy, and Ben Pruitt. Honorary pallbearers will include: school mates from Coopertown High School, the Murphy Cousin Clan, of which he has been the Patriarch for the past few years, all the Frey cousins, members of the Pryor family who he loved like his own, the members of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church, the "Old Football Players Breakfast Friends" who have met at Larry's Restaurant in Springfield for several years and a must for Larry to attend when he was able.

Graveside services will be held at Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Tennessee at a later date and time to be announced later. The family will visit with friends and relatives at the grave site.

Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, TN is assisting the family with arrangements.
