Age 97, passed away on January 7, 2021 with her family at her side.
She was born in Newcastle, England, on May 10, 1923 to the late Michael and Ann (Joyce) Thornton. She was a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and longtime member of St. Joseph's in Strongsville.
Nancy was a wonderful mother and grandmother who shared unconditional love and hospitality with all of her family and friends. By her example she nurtured and inspired her entire family to be who they are today.
She is survived by her eight loving children Jerry (Dolly) Hughes, Mary Kay (Dick) Noll, Judy (Chuck) Fisher, Jim (Diane) Hughes, Nancy (Jack) Hauglie, Michael (Ann) Hughes, Peggy (Ed) Snanigan, and Patty (Tom) Sirna; 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Patrick Hughes; grandson Don Noll; sister Mary; and her brother Michael, Jr.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 11, 2021 at St. Francis. To attend virtually, the Mass will be livestreamed at 9:30 am, Monday, on the St. Francis Xavier Church website, https://www.sfxmedina.com/parish. She will be laid to rest with her husband, James, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
