Obituary for Mr. William Shannon Moncrief
William Shannon Moncrief passed away on January 17, 2021 at Singing River Hospital in Ocean Springs, MS after a tragic automobile accident on the same day.
Shannon was born on June 8, 1971 in Pascagoula, MS to Trudi Flurry Dixon and William A. “Monte” (Rita) Moncrief, Jr. In addition to his parents, Shannon is survived by his loving brother, Brannon Kent (Stefani) Janca, his fiancé, Kristie Gordon, and her son, Benjamin Depperschmidt, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Shannon is preceded in death by his step-father, Kent Janca, and his grandparents, Helena Moncrief, Roy “Memaw” Jones, Clifton C. Flurry, and Floyd Norris Jones.
Shannon graduated from Pascagoula High School in May 1989 and graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.A. Degree in Business Management in May 1993. He was of the Methodist faith and had a big heart for the elderly and underprivileged. Shannon was known throughout the Gulf Coast as a friend and brother to many. His countless friends will remember him for his free spirit, big dreams, creative soul, and outgoing nature. Shannon had a natural talent for coastal art and carpentry. He loved fishing, especially in Destin, FL, as well as visiting the islands with friends and his brother. Shannon was also an avid LSU and Saints fan.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021, 2:00 pm, at Ramsay-Vancleave #2 Cemetery, Cemetery Rd, Vancleave, MS 39565. Due to COVID, the family plans on hosting a celebration of life on Shannon’s 50th birthday in June. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Home of Grace, PO Box 5009, Vancleave, MS 39565.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic social distancing and face masks will be required at the graveside.
