Donald was born March 10, 1947 in West Monroe and passed away January 19,2021 in Monroe, LA. Donald was a member of Liberty Grove Church of God where he served as a door greeter and a member of Challenges Sunday School Class. He was first class machinist at Southern Tool and Ouachita Machine Works until his retirement in 1999. Donald was a past President and member of Prairion Hunting Club for most of his adult life. His favorite hobby was fishing and passed on the art of fishing to his grandchildren and looked forward to an annual trip to Hot Springs, AR. Donald was preceded in death by his parents Georgia Mae and Franklin Harper; brother Charles Harper and a sister Bama Harper Crowell.
Donald is survived by his wife of 50 years Jo Ann Russell Harper; daughter Sherry Harper Teague and husband Barry; son Shannon Harper and wife Ashley; grandchildren Jett Teague, Cam Harper, Hixson Teague and Crew Harper; brothers and sisters include Mildred Brownell, Mae Kelly, Franklin “Doodle” Harper, Barbara Hynum and Harold Dean Harper; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Todd McGuffee, Jim Dillard, Kelly Mathus, Glen Beard, Harry Barfoot and Donnie Futch.
Honorary pallbearers will be Challenger Sunday School Class and his grandchildren.
