Marvin Ennis Patterson was born on March 15, 1925, to Hugh Ennis and Ada Mabel Shepherd Patterson, in Post, Texas. He was one of two sons and six daughters.

When he was a young boy, he was given the nickname "Bobby" by his sisters as his hair cuts were always in a "bob" shape.

At a young age, the family moved from Post to Loraine, Texas, where he attended school through the tenth grade.

He worked on the family farm, including picking cotton. When he was old enough to drive, he had many odd jobs from hauling ice and delivering milk to driving trucks.

He also worked in the oilfield until he turned 25 when he joined the Air Force. After training in several states, he received his Aircraft Mechanic Certification. He was honorably discharged in 1955 as a Staff Sergeant at Lake Charles Air Force Base in Louisiana. He moved back to Texas where he began his Civil Service career at Webb AirForce Base as an Aircraft Mechanic, specializing on the B-47's.

While working at Webb, he met and married Donie Lee Stewart.

After 27 years total government service, he retired and they moved to Arkansas for a few years. They moved back to Texas in 1979 to be closer to family. He then went to work for Parker Drilling in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. After several years of oilfield work, he decided it was really time to retire.

He loved horses and working cattle, traveling and was a lifetime member of the Good Sams Club.

He was a "Jack of all trades" and could fix pretty much anything.

He was always willing to help no matter what the job and never met a stranger.

He loved working on projects with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Papa, as he was affectionately called, loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donie, brother Edgar Patterson, sisters Ruby Reese, Mattie Ruth Kidd, Stella Tillisen, Lucille Loftin, and Virginia Bates; sons Ricky Wayne Patterson, James Robert Teeler and Roy Levi Teeler. He is survived by his sister Eileen Walsh from California. In addition, he is survived by his Daughter-in-Law Rose Marie Teeler, grandson James Cody Teeler (Lindy), granddaughter Elisha Marie Black (Jeremy), and great-granddaughters Charlotte Rose and Lillian Belle Teeler and Avery Jo and Ashton James Black. We will miss you Papa!
