Born on Feb. 25, 1946, in Wilkes County, he was the son of the late John Roy and Edith Sheets Kirk. Frank was a retired truck driver with a passion for playing bluegrass music. He was known for a good fish fry with family and friends.
Survivors include his soulmate, Nancy Ayers; children, Terry Ayers, Frankie Kirk and Selena McDonald; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Kathy Whitener and husband, Jim.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021. at 2 p.m. at Catawba Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Cooley officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Catawba County Humane Society.
