Julia "Jay" Ellen James, 100 of Vernon, Texas died on Sunday, January 17, 2021, in Vernon, Texas.
Graveside service will be Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 10:00 am at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Julia was born Wednesday, December 1, 1920 in Granbury, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Robert Williams and the late Hallie Lena Price Williams. She married O.M. "Jessie" James on November 6, 1937 in Kilgore, TX. She had lived in Knox City for many years and moved to Vernon in 1980. She was a member of Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron Chapter 119 in Knox City. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vernon. She was a homemaker, avid golfer, and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Palmer Chet Campsey and wife Sherrie of Vernon, Texas, Angela Speer and husband Chris of Dallas, Texas, Chan Campsey and wife Jennifer of Whitehouse, Texas. and seven great grandchildren Christopher, Mandy, Kyle, Candace, Cody, Sophia and Colton. Special thanks to Lenora Ramos for her friendship and caregiving during her final time on earth.
She is preceded in death by her husband O.M. "Jessie" James in 1999, one daughter, Beverly Campsey in 2015. Two sisters Bertie Traylor, Frances Leola Hammer.
Memorials can be made to Boys and Girls Club of Vernon.
