Born to Ruth Louise Sanders-Gray and Henry Lee Thomas. Sonya was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Sonya was a licensed cosmetologist, instructor and business owner. She was a mentor to many children throughout the community. She was a giver of life and always the one to bring joy and laughter into any situation. Sonya loved people and people loved Sonya. She is preceded in death by her mother; her husband, James Otis Neal and a grandson Zy'reik R. Swann. Left to cherish her memories are two daughters Takira (Torin Young) Sanders and Sadonya (Kendric) Stonewall; her father Henry Lee ( Rachel) Thomas; five sisters; Ramona (Earl) Hairston, Antoine (Stanley) Johnson, ShaDonna Thomas, Kimberly (Darun) Hamilton and Pasha Leonard; three brothers Kevin ( Ericka) Sanders, Zachary (Samantha) Sanders and Van (Joyce) Leonard; two grandchildrens, Zachari Nayshun Swann and Za'nia Raylee Swann; her best friend for life the " Butterflies;" Shelia Sanders, Renee Dunlap, Carol Davis, Denise Gannaway and the late Barbara Hudson and a host of nieces, and nephews, cousins and friends.
