Raymond William Sanders, 74, of Blackshear died Sunday afternoon (January 17, 2021) at Memorial Satilla Health after an extended illness. Mr. Sanders was born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Raymond John Sanders and Irene Padgett Sanders and made Blackshear his home for several years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and retired from CSX as a foreman. He enjoyed spending time at IGA in Blackshear shopping, fishing, family reunions, and more than anything loved the time he was able to spend with his family, children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Spivey.

Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife, Charlotte Sanders of Blackshear; two children, Rose Boyd of Waycross, Carolyn Sanders Smith husband Michael of Waycross; five grandchildren, Rebecca Osburn husband Matthew of Missouri, Thomas Youngblood of Waycross, John Brock wife Daisy of Colorado, Adam Davis of Waycross, Tim Bowen wife Dakota of Texas; five great-grandchildren, Corey Brock, Harold Brock, Dawson Bowen, Jackson Bowen, Carson Osburn; six siblings, Juanita Mosley, Carolyn Cunningham, Claude Robbins, David Thompson, Donnie Sanders, John Sanders wife Eloise; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Friday (January 22, 2021) at 11:00am in the Greenlawn Mausoleum. Entombment will follow in the Greenlawn Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8pm at Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
