Dorothy J. (Smail) Stone, 86, of Kiski Township, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021.

Born September 15. 1934 in Apollo, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Smail & Bertha (Kinter) Smail.

Dorothy was a graduate of Apollo High School. She worked as a hostess and in sales at the Atwood Lake Lodge, and as a sales clerk at Sweeney’s Furniture Store and Funeral Home, both in Ohio. She was excellent with numbers, and enjoyed helping her customers. Locally, Dorothy was a member of the Pinecreek Church in Kittanning, and volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

She enjoyed playing Scrabble and cards (especially Quiddler!), and loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. Stone, who passed away on June 7, 2014; daughter, Heather Davenport; sister, Janet E. Battaglia; and her brothers, Larry, Donnie, and Leonard Smail.

She is survived by her children, Marvin (Lisa) Church, Patti Heckman, Becky Brown and Sherie Hess; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill (JoAnne) Smail and James Smail; sisters, Linda (Bob) Lauffer; as well as nieces and nephews.
