Mrs. Helen Stone Rowe, 75 of Livingston, Texas was born May 29, 1945 in Crockett, Texas to parents, Grady Hamilton Stone and Velma (Hart) Stone, and passed away January 16, 2021 in Katy, Texas.
Helen grew up in Lovelady, Texas. She attended Lovelady High School where she enjoyed playing sports. She had a passion for horseback riding and loved barrel racing. It was in Lovelady where she met her husband of 51 years Wilburn Rowe. They settled in Livingston and Helen opened Little Girl and Boy Land Daycare. She was affectionately known as “Miss Helen” by the many children she lovingly cared for. After selling her daycare, she took a position with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice where she enjoyed being the Warden’s Secretary for many years. Her greatest joy was raising her family. She loved supporting her sons Randy and Grady in their coaching careers. She was the loudest fan in the stands. Her daughter Nita was her best friend.
Her grandchildren called her Mimi and they were her pride and joy. She loved to cook and her specialties included chicken fried steak, yellow toast, and strawberry cake.
Helen loved to read, dance, and spend time with her family and friends. Most of all she loved to laugh. Helen was an active member of First Baptist Church of Livingston. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilburn Rowe; and brother, Harold Stone.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wilburn Randal Rowe and Mari of Midland, Texas; daughter, Nita Christine Rowe of Parker, Colorado; son and daughter-in-law, Grady Mitchell Rowe and Jennifer of Bellville, Texas; grandchildren, Katelyn, Troy, David, Raygen, Stone, and Tatum; sister-in-law, Sharon Stone; and numerous other relatives and friends.
