Rotha F. Balentine, 86, of Wister, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was born June 24, 1915 in Ione, Ark.

She was a retired schoolteacher, a member of the First Baptist Church of Wister and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Baysul Balentine on Jan. 20, 1999.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Audrey and Treca Balentine of Wister; one grandson and wife, Bobby and Ina Balentine of Lexington, Ky.; two great-granddaughters, Molly Blackburn and Sarah Blackburn; and Ruthie Gatlin of El Centro, Calif. and Mental Balentine of Wister; three brothers, Farmer Wann and Gaylord Wann, both of Pocola and Coolidge Wann of Poteau; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 17 at Southside Baptist Church in Poteau with the Revs. Dale Rogers and Clarence Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery in Glendale under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

Pallbearers will be Ernie Cauthron, Bentley Hill, Neil Brannon, Mike Andrews, Raymond Glenn and Ronald Glenn.
