April 12, 1973 - December 25, 2020
Melissa Robbie McNabb, 47, of College Station passed away Christmas day and was laid to rest in the College Station City Cemetery. She got to spend Christmas with Jesus. As was her wish, she was placed at the foot of her beloved grandparents, Leila and Ernest Gregg and her dad, Jack Holcomb.
Melissa is survived by her son, Jayson Tyler McNabb, the greatest light and love of her life. They shared an extraordinary and deep mother/son bond. Jayson was her life and he will feel her loving presence with him forever. She also leaves behind her mother, Della Scanlen (Hugh) of Kerrville, her sister, Kelly Angus (Will) of Haslet, her brother, Steve Holcomb (Susan) of Bedford and a large family of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family who loved her dearly.
Whether you knew her as Melissa, MC or Missy, she will be remembered as fun-loving with a contagious laugh, a quick wit, compassionate, tolerant, kind - and a loyal friend. She had such a joy for life.
Melissa was born on April 12, 1973 in New Orleans LA. Although she was a Texan through and through, she took great pride in her birthright as a New Orleanian, whether making beignets; baking king cakes during Mardi Gras, decorating her Mardi Gras Christmas tree, or eating crawfish and boudin balls - she was all in. Laissez le bon temps rouler.
She had great love and compassion for all animals and was known to rescue possums, bottlefeed baby squirrels and risk her life many times swerving to miss a squirrel, a bird or stopping to move a turtle to safety. She could never pass up a dog on the loose, even breaking her foot during a recent unsuccessful rescue.
We have been comforted and so very grateful for all the friends and coworkers - from everywhere - who have reached out with condolences, heartwarming stories and expressions of how much she meant to them. Knowing and loving each of you and feeling that love in return was one of the greatest successes and blessings of her life. How precious her family and friends have been to her and to us as we live in the grace of one more day.
Melissa was a beautiful light in so many lives. Her greatest wish for each of us – and a way to keep her light shining – is to live your best life every day, making peace with the differences between us - loving one another.
