SEPTEMBER 17, 1933 – JANUARY 16, 2021

Anna M. Nichols was born on September 17, 1933 in Old Hickory, Tennessee and passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021 at ALIVE Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee with her son Eddie Nichols, her brother Wayne Caruthers and her niece Julie Hoover by her side.

Ann, as she preferred to be called, was preceded in death by her parents Norman Mitchell Caruthers and Martha Jane Jones Caruthers, her sister Linda Gail Caruthers Morris (James) and her husband of over 50 years James Edward Nichols.

For over 40 years Ann and her husband were the proprietors of the Graystone Motel and Campground of Goodlettsville, Tennessee. They were also partners in numerous other business ventures including mobile home parks, gift shops, a restaurant, and numerous commercial real estate ventures across the state of Tennessee.

Ann’s greatest passions were her family , and the wide array of friends she acquired over the span of her life, each of whom became a cherished part of her extended family.

Ann will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known her for her wide array of interests, her insatiable curiosity, her sharp and inciteful intelligence, her warm and welcoming maternal nature, her quiet grace, her fierce loyalty to those she loved, her generosity of spirit, her sharp attention to detail, her business acumen and above all for being a steadfast and faithful friend.

She loved to laugh, laughed often and was intensely sentimental.

Ann is survived by her adoring son James E. Nichols, Jr. ( aka Eddie), her sisters Roberta Caruthers Garrett (William), Norma Jean Caruthers Smiley (Kenneth), her brother Mitchell Wayne Caruthers ( Marie), her beloved nieces and nephews, her loving cousin Juanita Jefferson, her cousins from across the country , her cherished friends Beverly and Stanley Curtis, Brandon and Joannie Smithson, Mrs. Ann Howard and countless others who’s names are too numerous to mention.

Ann will be missed more than mere words can express, will forever be remembered with love, and will live on through the shared stories of those she leaves behind , stories which will reflect the rich tapestry that was her life.

Graveside Service will be held on January 27, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1150 South Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, TN.
