David J. Chase, 88, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Presbyterian Hospital, Plano, TX following a short illness. David was born September 29, 1932, in Syracuse, NY, the son of John and Sarah (Subjeck) Chase. He graduated Eastwood High school in 1950 and attended Syracuse University. He was united in marriage to Mary E. Mortas in Solvay, NY on June 23, 1956. David began his Lennox Industries career in a sales and communications field starting at the Syracuse factory and sales division. In 1966, he was promoted to director of public relations at corporate headquarters in Marshalltown, IA, which re-located to Dallas, TX. Later, he became vice president of government & public relations. After 41 years with the company, he retired in 1994. David enjoyed many activities including drawing, painting, traveling, golfing, gardening, cooking, country & western music, boating and fishing in his boat called the "Lady O". He was a Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan. For decades the family vacationed at Leech Lake in northern Minnesota, where he eventually bought a summer home. His painting of the family pet Irish Setter named Rusty, was admired by all. David is survived by his wife, Mary; son, David Jr. (Cindy) Chase, Cedar Rapids, IA; son, Christopher Chase, Madison, WI; daughter, Laurie (Jeff) Cobb, Marietta, GA; son, Douglas (Tami) Chase, Plano, TX; granddaughter, Lauren (Ben) Neale, Columbia TN; grandson, Austin (Joan) Chase, Lander, WY; granddaughter, Kendall Chase, Columbia, MO; grandson, Jason Cobb, Marietta, GA; great grandchildren, Corban, Abigail and Elizabeth Neale; sister, Sandra Moran, Bennett, CO; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, brother, Gordon Chase; and sister, MaryAnn Busch. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 21 at 11 am at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee Street, DeWitt, NY. A calling hour will precede the Mass from 9:45-10:45 am in the church chapel. The Mass will be live streamed at https://vimeo.com/501825166/8380e629ee Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt, NY. All CDC and NYS guidelines will be followed due to current conditions and everyone must sign the churches contact tracing form.
