1SG (Ret.) Joaquin Rogelio Hernandez, age 86, of Cunningham, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021.

A Private Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Joaquin entered into this life on August 16, 1934 in Zamora, Mexico to the late Pasqual and Aurora Lopez Hernandez. He retired from the United States Army after serving over twenty years including two combat tours in Vietnam. He then went on to serve as a career counselor with the Veteran’s Affairs Office in Nashville, TN. Joaquin was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Hannelore Trapp Hernandez; son, Joaquin Rogelio “Quini” Hernandez, Jr.

Survivors include his daughters, Dolores (David) Smoot, Silvia (Frank) Vincent, Karen (Jerry) Froelich; 4 grandchildren, Tiffaney Frank, Patrick Sawyer, Lindsey Hicks, and Caitlin Smoot; great-granddaughter, Adair Sawyer Hicks.

Pallbearers will be David Smoot, Frank Vincent, Jerry Froelich, David Frank, Patrick Sawyer, and Adam Hicks.
