Mrs. Hood was born in Everett on May 21, 1938, the only child of the late William E. and Blanche (Sparks) Coote.
On September 5, 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, the late James F. Hood.
She is survived by 6 children; Daughter – Susan widow of Stephen J. McCahan of Everett; Daughter - Donna widow of Randy L. Barber of Everett; Daughter – Linda wife of Mark K. Clark of Clearville; Daughter – Karen wife of Tim J. Troutman of White Oak; Son – the late James M. husband of Diana (Clark) Hood of Clearville; Son – William M. husband of Shellie (Potts) Hood of Artemas. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; Steve McCahan (Ashley), Karen McCahan Henry, Kevin McCahan (Sara), Adam Barber (Julie), Kate Barber, Jason Clark (Martina), Alex Clark (Allie), Andrew Troutman (Stephanie), Jennifer Troutman Fox (Evan), Daniel Troutman, Kristen Hood Shawl (George), Alicia Hood Grimes (Wesley), Matthew Hood, Michael Hood, William Hood, Spencer Hood, and Mary Hood; and 15 great grandchildren, Ella McCahan, Lydia McCahan, and Eliza McCahan, Isaiah and Grace Henry, Tenley and Caroline McCahan, Abram Clark, Kaylee and Julia Troutman, George C., Hailey and Layla Shawl, and Braylynn and Oaklynn Grimes.
Bev was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Everett Southern Joint High School in 1956 and then graduated in 1958 from Point Park Junior College with a medical secretarial certificate. She was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker until her last child entered school. She then was employed as a secretary for Everett Boro for 20 years. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and painting ceramics.
