AUGUST 11, 1944 – JANUARY 11, 2021

Paul Hodges formerly of Lakeland, Florida passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the age of 76.

He was born on August 11, 1944 in Columbia, Alabama. He was the oldest son of Myrtle and Floyd Hodges, Sr.

Paul was a self-made man, working early on at Publix Supermarkets before serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a Specialist 4. He put himself through college by working full-time and attending night classes at the University of South Florida where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology. Paul had a successful career in Electrical Engineering and Power Management and was proud to work for the City of Lakeland for 28 years and later for Oglethorpe Power in Atlanta, GA. He cherished his co-workers and enjoyed teaching both new and experienced power technicians protocols to ensure a safe work environment.

In addition to being an Engineer, Paul had diverse interests and always looked forward to trying something new. He often said "I'll try anything once." Some of his hobbies included golfing, fishing, Taekwondo (black belt), and woodworking. He enjoyed supporting his community as a Master Mason with Lakeland Lodge 91 and volunteering for The American Legion.

Paul enjoyed spending time with his immediate and extended family in Alabama and Florida. He also enjoyed vacations with three generations of his family on a caribbean cruise and in the Outer Banks, NC.

Paul is survived by his daughters: Kim Jacobs of Havre-de-Grace, Maryland, Amy Fowler of Clearwater, Florida. His granddaughters: Victoria Jacobs, Stella Fowler and Tatum Fowler. His son-in-law Matt Fowler, his sister Joyce Bolotin, and his brothers Eddie Hodges, Tommy Hodges, Roger Hodges and Phillip Hodges. He was preceded in death by his brother Floyd Hodges, Jr.

The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday, January 17 at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, located 2853 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759 Phone: 727-796-1992.
