Obituary from flammfh.com:
On January 17, 2021, at the age of 88, Carol Gwen Thompson Dayton, was called home to her Heavenly Father. She passed away peacefully, of causes incident to age. She was born in Twin Groves, Idaho on August 29, 1932. Her parents were Clem Thompson, Sr. and Jeneal Josephson Thompson. She was the second of five children, being the only daughter. She was loved by her brothers. She graduated from South Fremont High School and was involved with cheerleading, choir, and drama. Carol married Max B. Dayton while he was home on leave from the Navy, on October 10, 1952. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple and blessed with 5 children.
Carol was a fun-loving, teasing, hard working lady. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading and puzzles. Her family were the recipients of many of her afghans and quilts. She loved making crafts and homemade gifts that she shared with neighbors and friends. Carol was a member of the Mello-Daires singing group for 39 years. She loved to sing and yodel. Her silly songs and love for music will be passed on for generations to come. Carol was always the life of the party and conversation. She was quick witted and had a great sense of humor and was a joy to be around. She was an amazing cook and homemaker and everyone always felt welcome in her home. Carol's first love was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many different capacities throughout her life. Max and Carol served 3 stake missions and a proselyting mission to Houston, Texas. This was a highlight of their lives where they made many memories and lasting friendships.
Carol is survived by her husband Max, and children, Patti (Bruce) Crapo of Parker, ID, Tamara (Ken) Phillips of Salem, ID, Jerrice (Brent) Youngberg of Layton, UT, Daren (Denise) Dayton of Wilford, ID, Marci (Scott) Campbell of Riverdale, UT, 19 Grandchildren, 42 Great-grandchildren, 1 Great-great-grandchild, brother, J Lyle Thompson (Barbara), sisters-in-law, Kathy Thompson, and Merlyn Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Clem Jr., Gary, and Roger as well as a grandson, Dayce Campbell.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wilford Ward Chapel. Friends may visit Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Wilford Chapel. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary. For those attending the viewing or funeral service, the wearing of masks will be required and social distancing will be observed.
On behalf of the Dayton family we would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Homestead Living Facilities in both Rexburg and St. Anthony for the loving care they took of our Mom. We would also like to thank the Hospice nurses who were so compassionate and loving to Mom in her final days.
In memory of Carol, donations can be made to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. (isdup.org)
