Mary Lou Nichol, age 87, passed away peacefully in the presence of God in her residence at Stone Oak Retirement Community in Hilliard (OH), on Sunday, January 10, 2021. She was born, December 5, 1933 in Columbus (OH) to the late John A. DeVictor and Marguerite A. (Albanese) DeVictor. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert "Kim" Nichol, daughter Debbie L. Hurley, her brother John A. DeVictor, Jr., sister Margaret A. Raines, and brother-in-law Gilbert E. Raines. Mary Lou is survived by her loving son, John L. Nichol of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Jacob Nichol, Cody Hurley, Matthew Nichol, Nick Hurley and Zach Nichol; sister-in-law, Shirley A. DeVictor, many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary Lou was a 1952 graduate of Grandview Heights High School where she was involved in many sorority and drama activities. Mary Lou graduated in 1956 from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. During her career as an elementary teacher, Mary Lou worked for many school districts including Columbus, Dayton, and Centerville Public Schools. Enjoying all of her teaching assignments, it was her kindergarten students that most held her heart. Mary Lou enjoyed a lifetime of going to church and was an avid prayer of the Rosary. She was a member of St. Brendan Parish after her move to Hilliard (OH) and was a past parishioner and volunteer at St. Cecilia and the Church of the Incarnation in Centerville along with her husband, Kim. Together, Mary Lou and Kim shared a passion for OSU games and enjoyed many cruises. Mary Lou had a life-long love of dancing - starting with Beckerettes and their dance line through the Senior Jolly Steppers of Grandview. Mary Lou had a love of tennis playing regularly at Swim & Racquet with her fellow friends. Friends may call Monday, January 18, 2021, from 3-5 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Avenue (Columbus). Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel (within the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery) 6440 S. High St., Lockbourne, with burial to follow in the cemetery. Rev. Fr. Robert Penhallurick, Presider. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in memory of Mary Lou to St. Brendan Parish, 4475 Dublin Road, Hilliard OH (43026).
