She married attorney Franklin T. Williams of Warrenton, MO, in 1866. He had formerly been a principal at Truxton High School in the small town where Mattie grew up. Her husband passed on in 1886. She was survived by two children: O. D. Williams of Garber, OK, and Mrs. Charles Dixon of Woodward, OK. She was a longtime member of the South Methodist Church in Woodward where she was affectionately known as "Aunt Mattie."
The census reported her living with her husband and infant son Orrick in Prairie, Lincoln, MO, in 1870. In 1880 they were living in Marshall, Harrison, TX, with their children, Orrick D., 9; Bessie, 8; and Newell, 6. There were also two young adults 21 and 18 in the home that were children of F. T. Williams. After her husband passed away, Mattie moved to Woodward, OK, as quite a few of her kinfolk, both close kin and extended family had moved from the Truxton area to Woodward and the nearby region.
