Mr. Johnson was married to the former Anne Louise Rhodes, sister of Congressman John J. Rhodes.
While living in Council Grove, the Johnsons owned “Johnson’s Sundries”. Evertt was a member of Rotary International. They moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1951 where he was active in law enforcement and served as president of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Rhodes Johnson; two sons, Evertt Phillip Johnson Jr. of Spokane, Washington and Major Robert E. Johnson of Irvine, California; one daughter, Marilyn Anne Schoof (wife of Kenneth Schoof, formerly of Council Grove) Playas, New Mexico; two brothers, Jack and Herbert Johnson of Mount Vernon, Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. Daisy Hawkins of Mount Vernon and Mrs. Opal Fry of Carbondale, Illinois; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
