MISS ETHEL I. CARTER
The death occurred at the Tumut District Hospital on Tuesday, March 19, of Miss Ethel I. Carter of "Fernhill," Upper Gilmore, to which institution she was taken by ambulance ten days previous. The cause of death was heart failure. The subject of this obituary was born at Gilmore 71 years ago and lived all her life there. She had been in failing health for some time and was cared for by her two sisters. Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Carter and is survived by three sisters, Misses Alice and Amy Carter, of Fernhill, and Edith (Mrs. Sullivan), of Sydney; and one brother, Mr. Thomas A. Carter, of Sydney. Three sisters and one brother predeceased her. The funeral took place on the Wednesday after noon, leaving from the Church of England after a short service conducted by Rev. S. Broadfoot for the Tumut New Cemetery, where interment took place. The pallbearers were Messrs. G. T. Butler, G. Carter. R. Cupitt, M. Manns, C. Whatman and R. Butler. The floral tributes were numerous and the funeral was largely attended, showing the respect in which the deceased was held.
