CRAFTSBURY - Catherine P. Wilkinson, 79, formerly of Montpelier and Craftsbury, died on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the Maple Lane Nursing Home, after battling cancer.
She was born on June 3, 1937, in Montpelier, Vermont, the daughter of Courtland and Silvette (Hastings) Perry. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1955.
She received her bachelor's degree in physical therapy from the University of Connecticut and began working in New York City. After receiving her master's degree from New York University and her Ph.D. from Boston University, she began her career as a physical therapy educator serving on the faculty at Ohio State, UVM and Boston University where she chaired the department. She was also a private consultant in physical therapy education for seven years, traveling the country assisting schools that offered PT or who wanted to start a PT program. In 1992, she was hired by College Misericordia (now University) in Dallas, Pennsylvania, where she successfully began a new program for physical therapy and served as department chair for 10 years before retiring.
She retired in 2002 and she and her husband, Gordon Wilkinson, moved to Craftsbury, Vermont. One of her greatest joys was spending summers at her family's camp on Caspian Lake in Greensboro. She was an active volunteer and served on the boards of both the Greensboro Historical Society and the Greensboro Free Library.
