Lloyd Paul “Butch” Wilson, 88, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 4:42 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2021 at his home.

He was born June 13, 1932 in Granite City, a son of the late Draphus and Danie (McIntosh) Wilson.

He married Kathryn Ann “Katie” (Iberg) Wilson on June 6, 1953 in Greenville, Illinois and she survives.

He retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of dedicated service as a carrier in Granite City. He had also worked 10 years with the Granite City Township as a bus driver.

The United States veteran proudly served his country with the Army. He was a dedicated and faithful member of Gracepoint Pentecostal Church in Granite City where he had served as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer through the years. He had a love for eagles, enjoyed feeding the birds and cherished his grandchildren. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife of 67 years, he is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Rich and Penny Wilson of Granite City, Brian Wilson of Granite City, Fred Wilson of Granite City and Mark and Lynn Wilson of Granite City; a daughter, Karen Wilson of England; six grandchildren, Richard, Theresa, Joshua, Casey, Christopher and Alexander; seven great grandchildren, Nathan, Hayden, Jakson, Brennan, Regan, Owen and Ryan; two brothers and a sister-in-law, David Wilson of Granite City and Jerry and Carol Wilson of Granite City; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Wilson of Granite City and Mary Iberg of Indiana; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Andy Wilson and Tara Wilson; six siblings and their spouses, Virginia and Clarence Hertz, Roberta and Leon Coy, Shirley Martin, Leonard and Faye Wilson and Herman Wilson.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Gracepoint Pentecostal Church in Granite City on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend T.L. Smith officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
