Michael "Mike" Lynn Welch Sr.
(June 25, 1950 - April 05, 2020)
Michael "Mike" Lynn Welch Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, proceeded into God's glory on Sunday, April 5, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents, Blondell and Marvin Welch of Marietta, GA. Mike is survived by his wife of 50-years.......With his irresistible personality, Mike had a presence that filled a room, usually with laughter. As our family reflects on the posts and messages that everyone has shared, it is evident his character made an impact on many. He enjoyed the relationships and connections he made through sports, music, work, and traveling. Mike's jovial, loving nature will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those he impacted. Laughter was his specialty and he always wanted others to enjoy being cheerful. His infectious laughter was a delight. Football was a passion of Mike's. Football fueled him as shown by a state championship title at Marietta High School, the Fridays he spent as a high school referee, the endless days coaching at Ooltewah Middle School. His love of sports transcended to his children, with Jennifer's competitive gymnastics, Jamie's softball coaching, and Michael's football. Mike was manager of Midco Southern equipment in Marietta, Georgia for 5 years and general manager of Case Power and Equipment for 20 years in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Under his management at Case, the store was one of the top producing in the southeast. He is a member of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Ringgold, Georgia. A private funeral service will be held in Fort Valley, GA. Rooks Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alzheimer's research or to Ringgold Friendship Privitive Baptist Church.
