Betty Hayes, age 87, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, at her residence in Sturgis, KY. She was born on February 21, 1935, to John and Jettie Adamson in Dawson Springs, KY. Betty was a member of the Sturgis United Methodist Church for many years. She worked at the Farmers State Bank in Sturgis for several years. Betty very much enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar Hayes; a sister, Mary Ailene Adamson; and a brother, Clyde W. Adamson.
Betty is survived by:
1 Daughter Laura Sheffer and husband Alan of Morganfield, Kentucky
1 Son Jim Hayes of Sturgis, Kentucky
1 Sister Joyce Shofner of Sturgis, Kentucky
8 Grandchildren Amy Sheffer, Michael Day, Bill Watson, Justin Sheffer, Sheree Knight, Dawn Hedgepath, Shawn Sheffer, and Benji Sheffer

Funeral service will be on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis, Kentucky. Burial will be at Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis, Kentucky. Rev. Sarah Kate Cox will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at Whitsell Funeral Home. Memorial Contribution can be made out to St. Anthony's Hospice, 2410 S. Green Street, Henderson, Kentucky, 42420.
