Karen Jean Bates (maiden name Connelly) of Bensalem, passed away Wednesday, January 13th, 2021 at her residence. She was 67 years old.

Karen was born in Bensalem and was a lifelong resident. Her calling in life was to take care of others. During her career as health care worker she helped individuals with mental disorders at the Wood Schools, and provided intimate essential care as a home health aide. In her last role before retiring she taught, entertained and gave love and kindness to seniors as Activities Director at Beelong Adult Day Care Center.

She had a giving heart and often put everyone else's needs before her own. Karen had a gift of making anyone who came into her life feel loved and special. She lifted spirits with her warm smile and genuine sweetness.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald R. Bates. She is survived by her loving children, Amanda Maxwell, Melissa M. Owens, (Jonathan), Steven Maxwell; her brothers Lawrence John Jr. (Eileen), George A., and David S. Connelly; her sisters, Phyllis Muth (Joseph), Joanne Penner (Don); her four grandchildren; and most importantly her adorable Yorkshire Terrier Missy.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Gertrude Connelly; and her brother Norman E. Connelly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at the James O. Bradley Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Bellevue Ave., Penndel, PA 19047 on Saturday January 23, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm with a Memorial Service to be held at 2:30 pm.
