Kathleen F. (Kathy) Jackson, Michigan City, Indiana, died Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois after a brief illness.

Kathy was born in Plymouth, Wisconsin on May 10, 1938, the oldest child of Jay M. and Frances E. Prindiville. She spent her childhood on the family farm outside of Plymouth and attended the one-room schoolhouse at nearby German Corners where her mother taught kindergarten through 8th grade. Kathy graduated from Plymouth High School in 1956, moved to St. Paul, Minnesota with her friend Sandie Feld, and began work in the public relations department of Northwest Orient Airlines. From St. Paul, Northwest transferred her to Seattle, Washington and she later became a flight attendant. In Seattle she met her future husband, Bob Jackson. Kathy and Bob were married at St. John the Baptist Church in Plymouth, Wisconsin on April 22, 1961. They enjoyed nearly 60 years together until Kathy's untimely death.

Kathy and Bob returned to Seattle to begin their life together, and their first two children were born there. In 1964, Bob accepted an offer to work as a reporter and photographer for the Michigan City (Indiana) News Dispatch. The young family made the move east and Michigan City has remained their home for over 57 years. Kathy held part-time jobs in the restaurant business while her children were young, and in 1974 she returned to full-time work as a personal assistant for Bill DeWitt at DeWitt-Gebhard Associates. She changed directions in 1984 and began a series of jobs in the medical community as an administrative professional. She worked for several facilities in Michigan City over the next 22 years, including Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, and the Madison Center. Kathy's medical experience led her to start her own medical transcription business, First Choice, around 2003. She provided work for many typists over the years until she sold the business in 2012 at the age of 74.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Bob; their five children Jay (Barbara Waugh) Jackson of Utah, Terri (Jim Snyder) Jackson of Arizona, Debi (Cory) Collins of Florida, Pat (Lisa) Jackson of North Carolina, Mike Jackson of North Carolina; two stepchildren, Tim (Josie) Jackson of Virginia, and Kathy (Dan Bard) Jackson of Washington; 11 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her five brothers and sisters: Maureen (Tom) Zupancich of Colorado, Dan (Sharon) Prindiville of Wisconsin, Mike Prindiville of Washington, Mary (Steve Banasik) Prindiville of Florida, and Patrick Prindiville of Utah, as well and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her family and friends are simply devastated by her loss. Kathy was a hard worker, faithful friend, tireless mother, devoted spouse, and a truly generous and selfless person. She often worked in the background, but all of us who knew her recognize the enormous contribution she made to our lives and our success. She served on the local PTA, taught Sunday school, enjoyed activities at the YMCA, and played the occasional slot machine. She also had an adventurous streak and loved travel. In addition to visiting family and friends, Kathy dipped her toe in the Arctic Ocean in Alaska in the 1950s, attended the Second Vatican Council in Rome in 1962, camped across the US and around Lake Michigan with her family in the 1970s, and visited Paris in 1994.

A private family service will be held on Wednesday, January 20 at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral & Cremation Services with interment to follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, both in Michigan City. A celebration of her life will be held later in the year, with details to follow. Memorial contributions honoring Kathy, made to The Salvation Army, would be greatly appreciated.
