Vanessa Jo Fowler was born February 26, 1971 to Kenneth & Linda Fowler of Oklahoma City, Ok.  Vanessa was the oldest daughter of 4 children born to this union. 

Vanessa known for her caring heart and love personalitystarted catholic education at Sacred Heart and matriculated further to Saint Mary's Catholic high school where she would graduate in 1989. She spoke fondly about the "Surviving Ten" made up of students she attended school with from 1st grade through 12th grade. She was active in basketball, volleyball, pep club and dance (ballet). She was extremely proud of her participation in the Kiwanis club service organization kiawannettes. She worked as a Bingo hall hostess, a book binder and a cashier. She found her calling when secured employment at the Cerebral Palsy Center where shecherished taking care of her patients. She later moved on to the Oklahoma County Crisis Intervention Center. Due to an on the job injury she transferred from patient care to medical records and insurance. She took her new skills and started working for Saint Anthony Hospital in 2002 where she remained until her death. 

During her time at the Crisis center she met and fail in love with Derrick Wells.  After their first date where Derrick took her to see Aladdin the two were inseparable.  They shared a love of movies and reading.  Derrick and Vanessa realized that they had found their perfect match and decided to seal their bond.  On June 20, 1998 the two became one and began their happily ever after.  To this union one very charismatic baby boy was born Devan Thomas Wells and the world would never be the same.  Vanessa was a devoted mother and wife until her untimely death.  Her love and legacy will live on throughDerick, Devan and family who cherish her memory. 

On December 30, 2020 our Lord called Vanessa home. She was proceeded in death by her father Kenneth Dale Fowler, her sister Sharla Mae Swineheart, her fraternal grandmother Eva Mae Fisher, maternal grandmother Rita Pipkin and her nephew Ethan Hazen. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Derrick Wells, son Devan Thomas Wells, brother Edward Fowler, brother Alan Fowler. Vanessa leaves to treasure her memory hundreds of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She had a lifelong friend which she held dear to her heart with Dorothy (Dot) Jenkins. Vanessa also had a special relationship with her niece Madeline Schrock who she loved like a daughter.
