PEORIA - Juan "John" Ortega/Swearinger, of Peoria, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at the VA Hospital in Danville, Illinois.
He was born on August 18, 1945, to Jose and Edna Ortega. John married Debbie Baronich on November 23, 1985. She survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, one sister and one daughter.
He is survived by 3 brothers, 5 sisters, one step-daughter, 3 grandsons, one granddaughter, 5 great-grandkids and many nieces and nephews.
John was a sub contractor for UFS as a carpet layer for many years. He was a Vietnam War Army veteran. John loved the outdoors, going hunting and fishing with his brother, Joe. He also loved going to dinner with his wife. He was her best friend.
There will be military honors with a gun salute at Soldiers Field in Springdale Cemetery in the spring. There will be a celebration of life following the service.
John is loved and will be missed by many.
