Mr. Hodge worked at American Lantern in Newport many years, and was a member of the Airbase Church of Christ. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his 2 grandsons. They were the absolute joy of his life. Mr. Hodge loved to make people laugh with his unique sense of humor. He was never serious, and always found the laughter in every situation. He enjoyed raising rose bushes and listening to old music.
Mr. Hodge was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Von and Jerry Hodge; and three sisters, Betty Lewis, Shirley Joslin, and Brenda Hodge.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Verneal (Warren) Hodge of the home; one son, Sjon Hodge of Tuckerman; one daughter, Melissa Flowers and husband Donnie of Campbell Station; one brother, Billy Joe Hodge of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two sisters, Louise Carlton of Newport, and Linda Keen and husband, David, of Newport; two grandsons, Zackary Flowers and Andrew Flowers, both of Campbell Station; several nieces and nephews, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Jerry Melton, Brenda Warren, and Steve Warren; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Gracelawn Cemetery.
