Katherine “Kathy” Ellen Gibson, 56, of Bridgewater and formerly of Highland County, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Sentara RMH Medical Center due to complications from COVID.

She was born April 30, 1964 in Baltimore, Md., a daughter of the late Reverend Richard and Gertrude Louise (Judy) Gibson.

A loving and caring person, Kathy enjoyed reading, watching movies, spending time with friends, shopping, cooking and going on dates with Jammy. She loved watching football, especially the Indy Colts. Above all, Kathy will be remembered for her big heart and one-of-a-kind laugh.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her son, Richard William “Willie” Brown on October 5, 2015.

Kathy is survived by her fiancé, Jammy Ruddle of Bridgewater; brother and sister-in-law, John and Penny Gibson of Powhatan; special friends she considered family, Joann Ailstock, Chris Doyle, Gage Simmons and Dolores Doyle; as well as her beloved cats, Puss and Hank, whom she loved dearly.

A graveside service will be held, 11 a.m., Monday, January 18, 2021 in Green Hill Cemetery with the Revs. Andre Crummett, C. William “Bill” Cox and Mary Lou Cox officiating.
