ROBERT HENRY RAINES, 50 years of age of Vansant, VA, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN.

Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of Becky (Prater) Raines of Vansant, VA, and the late Bob Raines of Vansant, VA.

He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, carpentry and spending time with his family.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Rita Coleman and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Becky (Prater) Raines of Vansant, VA; his wife, Traci (Coleman) Raines of Vansant, VA; daughter, Sarah (Chad) Phillips and son, Jacob Raines; Granddaughters: Frankie Lynn and Ivaleigh Phillips; 2-Brothers: Russell (Selina) Raines and John Raines; 1-Sister: Bonnie (Greg) Barnett.

Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Saturday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Funeral Services for ROBERT HENRY RAINES will be conducted Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Coleman, Mark Justus and Teddy Honaker officiating with burial to follow in the Coleman Family Cemetery, Vansant, VA.

Active Pallbearers will be Jacob Raines, Chad Phillips, Zach Raines, Dylan Raines, Nick Raines, Tommy Barnett and Brandon Barnett.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his co-workers.

We will be taking proactive measures to help prevent the spread of any potential illness. In an effort to minimize direct contact, we ask that you consider avoiding shaking hands or physical contact with the members of the family or other guests. Direct Eye Contact, Loving Words, and a Warm Smile can be as meaningful to the families as a traditional handshake or hug, especially during these difficult times. Face masks or coverings are required and practicing social distancing.
