Geraldine (Poindexter) Williams was born October 8, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio to William and Marie Edna (Reynolds) Poindexter. At age 95, she went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, in Columbus.

Geraldine was blessed with five sisters, Thelma, Ruth Gloria, Leatrice and Deloris and three brothers, George, William and Lavon. She graduated from South High School in 1945.

Her first job was a store clerk for First National Cleaners in 1945 for three years. She married her husband John Williams in 1948 and from that union was born five children, John, Ronald, Cheryl, Carla and Carolyn.

She worked at Nationwide Insurance as a Medicare clerk from 1967 to 1970. Then she worked at The Ohio State University as a Office clerk in the Physical Education Department from September 1976 to December 1988.

Geraldine was a member of The Golden Hearts Club. She joined Hosack Baptist Church at the age of 12 years old, later as a character member of Resurrection Missionary Baptist church. She was involved in the Missionary ministry, Nurses corps and adult choir. She had a great love of God, being with family and the Poindexter Family Reunion.

Her favorite song was In the Garden, which was her mother's favorite song as well, she said that she could also see her mother working in the garden singing that song.

Preceded in death by her father, William Poindexter and her mother, Marie Poindexter; as well as her siblings, Thelma, Ruth, Gloria, Leatrice, Deloris, George, William and Lavon.

Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, John Williams: children, John (Teri) Williams, Ronald Williams, Cheryl (Dale) Patterson, Carla (Doug) Bailey and Carolyn (Stephen) Francis; Grandchildren, Chantele, Janitra, Tanisha (James) Mann, Amber, Nia, Stephen Jr., Jasmine, John, Jonathon Jr.; Great Grandchildren, Jaden, Mataya, Alexis, Cameron, Layla, Janaya and Josiah; special daughter-in-law, Pat Williams; and a host of nieces and nephews.
