York - James M. Boyle Jr. 87, entered into eternal rest on Saturday January 9, 2021 at Wellspan York Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia (Fabera) Boyle for 63 years.

Mr. Boyle was born on January 5, 1934 in Jersey City, New Jersey. A son of the late James M. and Ruth (Christensen) Boyle. His family had moved to Los Angeles after leaving New Jersey and Dayton, Ohio. He was a graduate of Glendale High school and attended Glendale Community College where he was a member of the tennis team. Mr. Boyle transferred to the University of So. California and majored in accounting. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, Pi chapter, and is a past President of his house. He served in the US Army during the Korean war. He began his career with NCR (National Cash Register) in 1960 as an accounting machine salesman. He held various managerial positions with NCR. The last was as Eastern Regional manager. Mr. Boyle retired from NCR in 1993. He was an usher, eucharistic minister and lector at St. Joseph Church and also was active in other parishes where he resided.

He is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1530 and assembly 920 where he was a former Faithful navigator. He was a former umpire and official for little league baseball, high school track and field and high school volleyball. Most recently he was a tennis official for USTA and ITA associations for tennis. He officiated college and private tennis clubs for the past 10 years retiring in 2020. He was also a member of the York White Rose Wanderer volksmarch club. He participated in many walks across the US with his wife. He also enjoyed playing bridge with friends.

He is survived by his wife and children: sons- Dr. James III and wife Jane, Christopher and wife Theresa and Patrick. Daughters: Dr. Bonnie Uehara and husband John, Dana Lipari and husband Joseph, Monica Welker and husband Anthony; 20 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Brothers: Richard (deceased), Bruce and Robert. Sister: Valerie Thomas(deceased) and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be 12-1 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, at St. Joseph Church, 2935 Kingston Rd. The mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 p.m. at the church with Fr. James Menkhus, OFM ,Cap as celebrant. Private burial will be in Indiantown GAP National Cemetery. Full military rites will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard, at the church, following the mass. The John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. East York, is assisting with the arrangements.
