Graveside services for Dr. Morton Green and Elizabeth "Betty" Green, 87, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2007 in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. They will be buried together.
Dr. Green died Sept. 23, 2003, at age 85. He was cremated.
He was born Oct. 25, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Leon and Nessa Lackow Green. He received a Bachelor of Science in zoology in 1939 and a Master of Science in 1942 from Kansas University. He completed his doctorate at the University of California at Berkeley after he served in the military.
Mr. Green served in the U.S. Army during World War II and served in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands with the 19th Medical General Laboratory. He was a professor at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and retired in 1980.
He married Elizabeth Griffith on June 6, 1946, in Berkeley, Calif. They lived in Rapid City, S.D., for 30 years before moving to Lawrence in 1980.
Survivors include two sons, Leon, Pocono Lake, Pa., and Joel, Seattle; a daughter, Julia Rombough, Lawrence; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Music Club Scholarship Program, KU's Museum of Natural History and Lawrence Jewish Community Center for its Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen program, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
